Twitter's New Rules

By ADTACK Marketing on June 08, 2016

When Twitter exploded onto the social mediabigstock-KIEV-UKRAINE--FEBRUARY-----88718453.jpg scene, people discovered just how powerful a mere 140 characters could be. Now that Twitter has become a valuable platform in your marketing program, they are getting ready to roll out upgrades that will allow more freedom in reaching prospects and promoting your brand.

  • Users are more receptive to messages with visual elements, so now attachments such as GIFs, videos and polls will not be included in the total character count. This new feature will also apply to quote tweets, giving you more room for your own content.
  • Just as you have evergreen blog posts, you can now have evergreen Tweets. The retweet button will enable you to retweet or quote your own tweets if you want to gain more traction or capture new followers.
  • Interactivity is a vital element of inbound marketing, and the ability to carry on conversations is one area where Twitter has fallen short. Now @names on replies will no longer count toward the character limit, freeing up more space for discussion.
  • The ".@" convention for broadcasting Tweets will be a thing of the past. Tweets beginning with a user name will reach all your followers, making it easier to broadcast replies.
