Make your posts nearly effortless for your readers to share and you’re well on your way to successful posting.

Encourage Followers to Get In On the Act

Sharing content far and wide is the fastest way to increase readership and gain wider exposure for your brand. Try some of these creative tips to boost the number of shares via social media and email.

  • Create share-worthy content – no one will share content that doesn’t touch them in some emotional way. Quality content builds trust and people will feel good about recommending you to others.
  • Use social sharing buttons and, whether you include them at the top or the bottom of the post, make sure they’re highly visible. The smaller they are, the better the chance of getting lost on the page.
  • Try “click to tweet” snippets. A simple plug-in lets your readers share a ready-made tweet to their followers with one simple click. They can appear at the end of a sentence or be set apart in a graphic box. Include your branding hashtags.
  • Practice influencer outreach by finding people who post similar content and reach out to them with a link request. To find those influencers, try BuzzSumo, which offers a free trial.
  • Use appealing images and optimize them for the platform you’re posting on. Most social networks have their optimum image size, so crop, resize, or make other format changes accordingly. ADTACK also wrote a blog that offers information about what successful social media posts look like.
  • Post your content across all social media platforms, but don’t use the exact same copy. Instead, craft accompanying text that speaks to your particular audiences. And it’s never, a good idea to write “here’s my latest blog post.” Get creative!
  • Stagger the release of your shares and time them for each social media platform. For example, posting on Facebook between 1pm - 4pm results in higher click through rates, whereas posting on Monday - Thursday between 1pm - 3pm results in high click through rates for Twitter. That may or may not be the case for every business, but once you know your optimal sharing times, stick with them until data analysis tells you otherwise.
  • Look into submitting your content to roundup creators. If nothing else, it will put you on their radar. Don’t get discouraged if the first answer is no. Keep producing great content, and keep asking.

Finally, follow the golden rule and do for others what you’d like them to do for you. If you want others to share your content, be willing to share theirs. This doesn’t need to be a hammered out negotiation. Just start sharing content you feel will interest your readers. The rest will follow.
